One cool Fete de la musique
Last night I attended the fete de la musique concert in Ortigas. It was festival of artists from the diffrent music genre, ranging from jazz to alternatives. Each genre has it’s own location (why the heck is the alternative station been move to the farthest galaxy?). The place was very very crowded (magkakapalitan na kayo ng mukha) as early as 6 pm.
It was so cool to see a lot of artists playing their own style of music. I even had a dose of reggae (it was the only station that wasn’t full by that time) and learned how to appreciate it. I also loved the alternative bands (Spongecola and Moonstar88, you rock!!!). Too bad, parokya ni Edgar and Rivermaya is not on on their playlist I was rooting for Rico Blanco’s moving vocals or groove to the First Day Funk by the PnE. Oh well, still it’s cool.
Here are some of my comments/sharings during last night’s event:
1) Always check on your valuables - A guy in front of me suddenly stopped grooving when he realized that someone stole his mobile phone from his wallet. Ang dami talagang gagong oportunista pag may ganitong event.
2) If you’re a thief, don’t let others know - A mini rumble started in the middle of Papa Dom’s (Tropical Depression) number because a petty thief was caught stealing. He was brawled to the ground by some of the crowds. Damn! Tough luck for that guy.
3) Reggae music do rock - Well, I’m not a fan but I sure do appreciate this music after all. I’m impressed Kadangyan’s performance (truly ethnic but they are good!). Minus the hemp and all
4) Last night show are for the youth - I noticed that most of the crowd last night were young COed people. There was even a fan’s club from TUP or TIP with a big banner. They even have a punks not dead uniform (pucha, kung nandun kayo, tignan lang natin kung…)
5) You can enjoy the show without a bottle of beer - I decided not to drink anymore, and indeed it was still cool. A few casualties started to emerge (drunken girls cursing their damn boyfriends for leaving them, guys asking for a fight, etc.) If you drink, make sure you know you’re limits
6) Some Pinay celebrities are indeed a good sight - Cindy Kurleto; enough said….
7) If you can’t dig in the lyrics, just dance to the beat - I have this habit of listening and observing the lyrics of songs i hear. Due to the crowd, it seems that I need to just do what they are doing to get into the groove
The R&B/Hiphop station stinks - Sorry for this comment but the guest artists last night for that
genre’s sucked. They really bored us for like an hour or so. We just stayed their cause the place has aircon and comfortable. ooops, i forgot, one artist did get my attention, it was Syke. Pare, believe me, he’s cool.
Ok kwento ko si Syke. When his name was called, an old guy came to the stage. He looked like someone who has been working in Saudi for quite some time. He wears an old jacket and a Mega Sardine T-shirt. Oo pare, Mega Sardine shirt! Simple guy but he did 3 remarkable numbers. Now that’s talent for me man, No fancy clothes or whatever, just being himself.
9) Bring a towel and a huge fan (pamaypay) - Sobra init! Sa dami ng tao parang pugon! Leche!
10) When it’s free, expect a huge crowd to flock the town - The place was full already but people
were still coming in. Kulang na lang sarsa sardinas
Overall, it was a very cool event. Kudos to the organizers!
